EINZELSCHICKSAL

In loving memory of Lawrence P. Burkett, son of Mr. And Mrs. David Burkett, of Jefferson, was born February 12, 1916, and gave his live in service for his county, December 11, 1944, making his age 28 years, 9 month and 29 days. He was married to Miss Dora Mash, October 22, 1933, and to their union were born the following children: Gladys Ray, Mary Kathalene and Bill Lawrence. Beside his father and mother, his loving wife and children, he leaves behind one brother, T.B. Burkett, of Dott, W.Va., three sisters, Mrs. Ella Miller, Clifton; Mrs. Viola Bronw, of West Jefferson, and Mrs Maxie Burkett, of Jefferson; with many other relatives and a host of friends to mourn for him. He professed faith in Christ in his early life and untied with Friedship Baptist church wher he remained and active member. He was one of our fine young men and took a very active part in the activities of the church, in Sunday School work and in the singing of songs, We shall always remember him for his sweet voice in song. He was one of the best bass singers we ever listened to. Possibly this was the first great characteristic of his live. The second was his fine personality. He made friends wherever he went and to know Lawrence was to love him and become his friend. And as it has pleased Almighty God to call him from us and to transplant him to the eternal realms of joy and bliss, let us all thank God for having let him live, with us here on earth and strive to meet him on the shores of Heaven when no patings will ever come. He is not dead, but gone away. To live in realms of Eternal Day.
